As a way to enhance the BlackBerry experience of subscribers that availed of its BlackBerry Lite Bundles, mobile operator Smart Communications has started offering the bundles at lower rates of P35/day, P100/week, or P299/month.
Smart was the first mobile operator in the Philippines – a predominantly prepaid market – to offer the BlackBerry solution on a prepaid and flat-rate basis, which it called BlackBerry Unlimited Data Plan, in 2010.
The lowered rates for the BlackBerry Lite Social Bundle, which offers ‘unli’ access to social networking apps such as Twitter, Facebook and BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) and other instant messaging services of BlackBerry while on-the-go, will be available until January 31, 2011.
The BlackBerry Lite Email Bundle, which offers unli access to push email and instant messaging via BlackBerry applications, including BBM, is also available at the same rates.
Both Lite Bundles are open to all Smart subscribers using a BlackBerry handset, prepaid or postpaid.
Smart subscribers using any BlackBerry smartphone can avail of any of the BlackBerry data plans by texting BB HELP to 2207 to get subscription instructions for free.
Subscription fees will be charged on top of a postpaid subscriber’s monthly service fee, while for prepaid subscribers, the service fee will be deducted direct from subscriber’s load. Prepaid subscribers will need to maintain a minimum of P1 in their account balance while subscribed to the service.
