Philippine-based mobile phone operator Smart Communications and MasterCard are planning to roll out a mobile payment service for Brazilian users, starting with 2012, media outlet totaltele.com reports.

As a result, the service is set to enable users in Brazil to buy prepaid airtime or pay merchants using their handsets by drawing funds directly from their MasterCard credit or debit cards, according to the source.
